Gas Purging & Testing

Gas Purging and Testing

Whenever gas piping is repaired, extended or newly installed, it must be purged. The rules and best practices for handling these situations are often misunderstood, even by those conducting the work. This has caused much pain and suffering, including deaths, explosions.

At ATHeating we use a GEA professional gas purge unit which is easy to use and enables low pressure purging to be carried out safely in accordance with the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers document IGE/UP/1 (Strength testing, tightness testing and direct purging of industrial and commercial gas installations) and IGE/UP/1A (Strength testing, tightness testing and direct purging of small, low pressure industrial and commercial Natural Gas installations) for purging pipework of up to 100mm (4″), 150mm (6″) and 300mm (12″)

The GEA Purge Unit can also be used to set up meter regulators under flow conditions to save a second site visit for commissioning.

All our engineers have purging certification and regulary carry out purging tasks on various installations through out the south of england. If you are in need of a quotation for this task then please contact us we would be happy to help you on your project
